Portland Pictures Part One

We had so much fun visiting our wonderful friends, the Daines family, in Portland, OR last week! Brian and I loved getting away from the kitchen construction and seeing Meg, Greg, and Owen, who we haven’t seen in over a year.

Brian and Owen had so much fun together! It was as if they were never apart! They got to know each other so quickly you would have thought they were brothers (what, with all the fighting and pushing over toys!). ;) Brian did get a little homesick, though, and the first few days he kept pointing outside and saying he wanted to “Go!” However, by the end of our stay, he really felt at home and loved cuddling with his Auntie Meg.

It was great having someone to play with, and Brian and Owen did everything together. They watched T.V. together,
played with toys together,
bathed together,
and read stories every night together.

Meg and I thought it would be fun to make Jello Jigglers for the boys. We gave them each a shape and some Reddi-Whip in a little bowl and let them have at it. Owen LOVED the jello, but Brian took after his mom and DEVOURED the whipping cream first. After he had dived into that, then he tried the jello!
We also had a lot of fun visiting our friends, the Taylor’s. Their kids loved playing with the boys! Brian was so “slap-happy” running around in circles and showing off. It was especially fun when they brought out some balls and played catch. I think Greg had the most fun dumping all the balls on Brian!

Brian also discovered the potty on this trip and by the end he would say, “Potty” and sit down whenever Mommy went! I guess it’s that time!

It really was a wonderful trip; even the airplane ride was good. We had a little scare on the way home, however. We were supposed to connect in Chicago, but there was so much snow they couldn’t clear the runway for the planes to land. Our plane circled over Chicago for what seemed like forever until the pilot announced we were running out of gas and had to land in St. Louis! Once we landed we sat there for what seemed like forever while they decided what to do with us. Finally, they started calling people off the plane to catch flights that were leaving for their destinations. I was very lucky that Columbus was the second one called! EVERYONE was so helpful getting me to my new plane – they really turned it into a positive experience. They even moved someone on the new flight so I could have an extra seat for Brian. I got to Columbus right on time to see Troy, whom we had missed so much! Needless to say, I think I’ll fly Southwest from now on!

I will post the rest of our Portland pictures once I get them from Meg!
Love you all!!

I loved the Portland recap! I'm so glad you do a blog so I can keep up with how you are doing. Brian is turning into such a darling little boy!

Cute, cute, baby boy! He looks like you when you were little. Have I told you lately that you were the most beautiful baby too? I have a memory of you... in your high chair at Grandma's house. You were such a good little girl too.
