Well the weekend and the craziness are over! Things have calmed down enough so I can blog - yea!
We've been trying for awhile to go to the pumpkin patch. There's a cheap, fun, and did I say cheap, one we love to go to every year.
We probably won't go again.
First Attempt: "Sorry, the Kiddie Corral won't be open until 3." (As we stand there at 10 in the morning ready to rock and roll.)

Consolation Prize: Getting to Play in the Sandbox
Attempt #2: "Oh, didn't they tell you? We're not open until 7 today" (No, they told us to come at 3, so here we are at 3)

Again, lots of fun in the sandbox. Even after a lot of begging and yelling, they still wouldn't let us in the Kiddie Corral. I know, sad. :(
Thankfully, Grandma thought of a place that had pumpkins (but no fun activities for the kids) and we headed there. We got great deals on pumpkins and some awesome pumpkin pictures!

I love my little pumpkins! And Sariah and Micah were excellent models too!
On to Halloween! We had a lot of fun planning the kids' costumes this year. Brian wanted to be Spiderman and we chose Ariel for Ellie (she is at the age where she really doesn't know what she wants - doesn't have very many favorites). We thought it would be fun to spray Ellie's hair red (yes, we did try a test spot first and it washed off). And Brian asked us to paint his face since he wasn't wearing a mask.

Here is beautiful Ellie before the administration of the hair color. . .

Here I am trying to spray it on just her hair - Troy and I got pretty red hands from covering her face!

And here she is ready to go trick-or-treating! Thanks to Sariah, Ellie had a costume that fit perfectly over her coat!

Here is Brian's before shot - Troy really did a great job with the paint. . . which you will see below:

Our little Spiderman! Troy started to get a little worried when after he washed his hands, they were still red from the paint!
Before Trick-or-Treating, we went to the Chili Cook-off at the church. Our ward, especially our Activities Chairwoman, really gets into Halloween. There were carnival games for the kids, face painting, and a cake walk! All the kids won great cakes. This was the best one, and was chosen last, ha ha!

Mmmmmm, Kitty Litter. . .
Trick-or-Treating was so much fun! We had a large group: Brian, Ellie, Sariah (cousin), Micah (cousin), and some friends, Olivia, Caleb, Isaiah, and Kennedy. The 4 older kids took off with Uncle Sean and the 4 little ones each had an adult to help them with their trick-or-treating. It worked out great!

Click on the picture if you want to see details - Halloween has been getting more and more fun as the kids get older. I still don't like all the candy, though! We've been brushing teeth like crazy!! And, in case you're wondering, it ALL washed off! ;)
As things got busier, I didn't get to update my pumpkin pictures like I wanted to. So here is the Tale of the Spider Pumpkin. It was around Day 4 that it started to shrivel, but it lasted until Halloween, which was great!

P.S. If you're wondering about Troy's ghost. . . it was a hit! We just didn't get any good pictures; we were too busy handing out candy! He made a decoy ghost that it sat next to, and as people walked up he would make it start to shake and move.

They would start to walk away and the ghost would take off after them! He terrorized a few girls and even made one boy jump straight up in the air over it! The best part was this boy had just been bragging about how nothing could scare him - it was great! He's already making plans for next year. . .

I'm not sure I would go back to that Pumpkin Patch either...what a pain! I'm glad you guys had a fun Halloween. Your kids were adorable in their costumes.
Well, I love the two pics in the sandbox! :)
Your kids and their costumes are super cute, and I really like the electronic ghost too. The kitty litter cake is absolutely disgusting. But my favorite has to be your disintegrating pumpkin. We did ours a few weeks before Halloween. They weren't nearly as intricate as yours, but they got far more moldy and dilapidated. Ewwww. I didn't even want to take the candle out of one of them. I just threw it away!
Btw: Thanks for the real mail!
I had such a blast looking at all of your pictures! It was surely a very fun and fantastic Halloween at your house. Good memories for all of you 8-)
That cake was sooooooo disgusting, tho....
Um, that "cake" made me want to vomit! Sick!
Sorry about the pumpkin patch fiasco! Some people!
Glad you had a fun Halloween!
